Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director of HSEQ, manage and promote all aspects of PHI Air Medical's environmental, health and safety activities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assists in the administration of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EPA, CERCLA, SARA and other relevant environmental and safety standards including local state and county regulations for all areas where we have base operations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of local, state and federal environmental regulations.
- Evaluate need and ensure all required chemical discharge, emissions, storage, and disposal for all PHI Air Medical operations are obtained and administered appropriately.
- Monitor critical elements of PHI Air Medical's environmental protection process.
- Analyze regulations and environmental issues, provide input and define impact on our facilities.
- Determines corrective action in facility safety deficiencies, or environmental compliance, and makes recommendations to appropriate management.
- Participate as a member of the Safety Management Review and Operational Leadership Team when delegated.
- Recommend, develop and communicate PHI Air Medical specific policies and procedures for enhancing environmental protection efforts and complying with pertinent local, state and federal environmental requirements.
- Recommend initiatives to enhance PHI Air Medical's environmental protection programs to the Director of HSEQ.
- Develop and/or update existing storm water pollution prevention plans for our air medical sites.
- Keeps current on new ideas and techniques in the safety and environmental field through such means as reading governmental and professional publications, attending seminars and discussing related issues with other safety professionals.
- Coordinates base activities with professional outside contractors in the areas of toxic waste disposal and laboratory analysis.
- Ensures EHS compliance through monitoring and regular auditing of facilities and job sites.
- Identifies and takes appropriate action in response to safety and environmental issues.
- Experience in the storage, handling and disposal of flammable liquids
- Facilitates permit renewals and/or updates and posts at affected sites.
- Provides oversight on chemical inventory compliance for all sites.
- Collects, compiles, reviews, summarizes, and presents safety and environmental data to appropriate management and regulatory agencies.
- Maintains new and updates existing applicable policies when revisions are made.
- Provides EHS on-the-job training and facility employee training and monitors compliance with class enrollment and programs.
- Analyzes proposed/final environmental quality legislation and regulations and provides input and determines impact on PHI Air Medical operations.
- Develops and implements environmental quality monitoring pollution prevention, and environmental compliance programs.
- Custodian of Safety Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Maintaining a current PHI Health Hazard/Risk Register.
- Maintaining current Bowtie analyses for High Risk Rated Top Events within PHI Health.
- Manages the PHI Health PVT program.
- Assists HR with the Drug and Alcohol program.
- Monitors and actively engages in close-out of 'MyCommunications' Root-Cause-Analysis and Tasks.
- Coordinates HPI, or equivalent technique, investigations into occurrence.
- HSEQ Department KPI coordinator.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or a combination of work experience and certifications may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years environmental, health, safety, and/or envir9onmental management experience.
- Strong technical writing, organizational and communication skills.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office software.
- Certification as a Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of industrial hygiene, safety and environmental regulations.
- OSHA, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, SARA and General Industry Safety Standards.
- Federal, state, county, and city laws, ordinances and regulations applicable to our locations.
- Technical programs, research, and trends in the practice of environmental quality investigations, pollution control, and remediation.
- Research methods and techniques.
- Environmental quality regulatory programs.
Ability to:
- Communicate orally in the English language with individuals in a face-to-face, one-on-one setting or by telephone.
- Produce documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to pass a pre-placement drug test and background screen
