POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Reporting to the Director, HR Service Delivery, this position is responsible for the administration and case management of all types of employee leaves of absence. Position assists employees with the leave of absence process from initial completion of paperwork to request a leave, to the return to work process. Communicates with division's leadership regarding employee leave status and collaborates with coworkers as applicable, payroll, employee records, benefits, etc.  Ensures all leaves are properly documented. Produces and manages leave of absence reporting metrics.

 

JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for all leave management activities, including but not limited to medical leaves of absence (LOA), Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) military LOA, and personal LOA. Assists leaders in tracking and managing intermittent leaves of absence.
  • Interprets and administers leave requests and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws. Approves and/or denies leave requests based on provided information. Ensures timely follow-up.
  • Maintains contact with all employees on leave and coordinates return to work aspects with Occupational Health.
  • Works closely with Occupational Health Nurse for Workers Compensation cases to ensure appropriate leave of absence tracking.
  • Maintains contact with program leadership regarding employee leave status.
  • Produces and manages reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases. Manages the COVID-19 tracking for all employees on leave.
  • Collaborates with Occ. Health for Americans with Disabilities Accommodations and transitional duty restrictions.
  • Develops training programs and materials on leave of absence policy and implements regulatory or process updates accordingly.
  • Position provides back up coverage for the HR Generalist/Designated Employer Representative (DER), Occupational Health Coordinator, and as needed HR Administrative Assistance.
  • Identifies areas of improvement in organizational leave of absence policy and prepares recommendations for further review.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree + 3 years of experience in Human Resources and experience with leave management OR, High school diploma + 6 years of experience in Human Resources and leave management experience
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare or aviation environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Windows computer applications.  Includes merging, developing complex tables/spreadsheets and forms, preparing general office correspondence, maintaining computer files.
  • Must be able to effectively and efficiently organize and produce workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in grammar, punctuation and writing correspondence skills. High attention to detail a must.
  • Must provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.  Requires effective human relations and communications skills in order to interface with all levels of management, staff and the public.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, write and speak English fluently.
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
  • This position is designated Safety Sensitive for purposes of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act.
  • Note: Overall PHI experience may be considered as an alternative to Bachelor's degree requirement.
